Most PPF supplier vetting comes down to twelve questions, and most suppliers only survive answering half of them. Ask them straight, before a deposit changes hands, not after.
Start with ownership. A lot of "manufacturers" you find online are trading companies with no production floor of their own. We run our own 20,000 square meter facility, with TPU multi layer coextrusion and cast film lines for color change product. Ask any supplier the same question and listen for how specific the answer is. Then ask about traceability. If a customer complains about a roll six months from now, can the supplier trace it to the batch it came from? We print a roll number, batch number, and material code directly on the roll in zoned labels, so a claim gets traced, not guessed at.
Test data matters more than a spec sheet. Puncture resistance, hydrophobicity, tensile strength: a supplier with real equipment can show you real numbers on real rolls. One without it is just repeating someone else's claims. Base material sourcing is the same test in a different form. Our TPU comes from Lubrizol, BASF, and Covestro, and that is public on our own site. Any legitimate manufacturer should be equally open about where their resin comes from.
Then look at range. We carry 541 SKUs across clear PPF, window tint film, TPU color change film, and PVC color change film, with 343 SKUs in PVC color change alone. A supplier with fifteen SKUs is solving a different problem than one with five hundred, and your customers will notice the gap the first time they ask for a color that is not on the shelf.
Stock versus made to order changes your delivery promise more than anything else on this list. We keep 26 SKUs, our full clear PPF and window tint film lines, as ready stock in a US warehouse in City of Industry, California. The other 515 SKUs, mostly color change film, ship factory direct from China. Know which bucket an order falls into before you tell a shop owner when it lands.
Samples and quote speed tell you how the business runs day to day. We send free samples before anyone commits to a bulk order, and we turn a quote around in about 12 hours. A supplier who takes a week to price a standard SKU will take the same week on your claim resolution later. Warranty terms should be product specific, not one number for everything. Ours run 5 to 10 years across clear PPF depending on the series, 2 years on PVC color change film, and 5 years on TPU color change film.
Pricing structure is the last thing worth understanding, not the exact numbers but the shape. We run tiered EXW pricing out of the China factory across roll count bands, roughly 1 to 10 rolls, 11 to 50, 51 to 150, 151 to 450, and full container load, plus a separate stocking tier structure for the 26 US warehouse SKUs. You do not need the discount math. You need to know it exists and scales with volume before you order at scale.
