Privacy Policy

Last updated: 26 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how HIGHCOOL collects, uses and discloses personal information when you visit highcool.com, place an order, or otherwise deal with us. HIGHCOOL is the trading name of Shanghai Chihuan New Material Technology Co., Ltd. (上海赤寰新材料科技有限公司), which is the data controller for the purposes of this policy.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us. When you place an order, request a quotation, open an account, subscribe to our mailing list or contact us, we collect your name, company name, email address, telephone or WhatsApp number, billing and shipping address, order details, and any tax or business registration number you provide for invoicing or customs clearance. Payment card details are entered directly with our payment providers; we do not receive or store full card numbers.

Information collected automatically. When you browse the site we collect device and usage information — browser type and version, operating system, IP address, referring site, time zone, the pages and products you viewed, and how you interacted with the site. This is collected using cookies, log files, web beacons, tags and pixels.

Information from third parties. We may receive information from our payment providers, shipping carriers, fraud-prevention services and advertising partners — for example confirmation that a payment succeeded, a delivery status update, or aggregate campaign statistics.

2. How and why we use it

  • To process and fulfil your orders: taking payment, arranging shipping, preparing customs documentation, and sending order confirmations and invoices.
  • To communicate with you: quotations, order updates, technical and product support, and answering enquiries.
  • To screen orders for fraud and for compliance with sanctions and export-control rules.
  • To operate, maintain and improve the site, and to understand which products and pages our customers find useful.
  • To send marketing about our products, where you have asked for it or where we are otherwise permitted to. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • To meet our legal, tax, accounting and customs record-keeping obligations.

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal bases are: performance of a contract with you (order processing and support); our legitimate interests in running, securing and improving our business (fraud prevention, analytics, B2B marketing); your consent (non-essential cookies, marketing email where consent is required); and compliance with a legal obligation (tax and customs records).

3. Who we share it with

We share personal information only with parties who need it to provide the service, and only for that purpose:

  • Shopify Inc., which hosts our online store and processes orders on our behalf. See Shopify's privacy policy.
  • Payment providers, to authorise and settle payments and to detect fraud.
  • Shipping carriers, freight forwarders and customs brokers, to deliver your goods and clear them through customs.
  • Analytics and advertising providers, including Google, to measure site performance and campaign effectiveness.
  • Customer-support and communication tools used to run our chat and enquiry forms.
  • Professional advisers and authorities, where we are required to disclose information by law, by a lawful request from a public authority, or to establish or defend legal claims.

If our business is sold or reorganised, customer information may transfer to the acquirer as part of that transaction.

4. International transfers

We operate from China and sell worldwide. Your information will therefore be processed in China, and — because of where our platform, analytics and carrier providers are located — in the United States, the European Economic Area and other countries. These countries may not offer the same level of data protection as your own. Where we transfer personal information out of the EEA or the UK, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum where applicable), or another lawful transfer mechanism.

5. Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies that are strictly necessary to run the site and the cart, cookies that remember your preferences, cookies that measure how the site is used, and cookies that support advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though the store will not work properly without the necessary ones.

To opt out of interest-based advertising more broadly, see the Digital Advertising Alliance, the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance, or the Network Advertising Initiative. Note that we do not currently alter our behaviour in response to a browser "Do Not Track" signal, as there is no agreed industry standard for it.

6. Selling and sharing of personal information

We do not sell your personal information for money. Our use of advertising and analytics cookies may nevertheless count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising, or as a "sale", under California and certain other US state privacy laws. You can opt out by disabling advertising cookies in your browser or by emailing us at contact@highcool.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right.

7. How long we keep it

Order and invoice records are retained for as long as required by tax, accounting and customs law — generally at least ten years under Chinese law. Account and marketing data is kept until you ask us to delete it or your account becomes inactive. Analytics data is retained in aggregated or de-identified form.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to receive a portable copy, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of marketing or of targeted advertising. If you are in the EEA or the UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@highcool.com. We may need to verify your identity before we act, and we will respond within the period required by the applicable law — normally within one month. You may use an authorised agent where the law allows it.

9. Security

The site is served over TLS and payment data is handled by PCI-compliant providers. We restrict internal access to order and customer data to staff who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify you and the relevant authority where a breach requires it.

10. Children

This is a trade site and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to our practices or for legal reasons. The "last updated" date above shows when we last revised it. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
