Why shops sell Color PPF next to vinyl
A vinyl color change looks good on delivery day. Color PPF is for the customer who wants the new color and also wants the paint under it protected from rock chips. It is TPU, so it stretches and recovers, and light swirl marks in the topcoat close with heat. Vinyl Wrap is PVC and does not do that.
That difference is the upsell: the same color conversation, a higher ticket, and a film that protects the paint underneath while it is on the car. Some shops keep vinyl for budget jobs and fleet work, and quote Color PPF on the cars the owners plan to keep.
