If a customer wants color and paint protection in one job, that is Color PPF, not vinyl wrap. If they just want a look they can change again in a couple of years, vinyl wrap is the cheaper way to get there.

The two are built on different materials, and that is the whole difference. Color PPF is TPU, the same film family as clear PPF, just with color and pigment built into the topcoat. Vinyl wrap is PVC, a decorative film with no self-healing layer and a thinner spec.

Our Color PPF runs 7.5 mil, 1.52 meters by 15 meters a roll, in 172 colors, with a 5 year warranty. Our Vinyl Wrap runs 6.5 mil, 1.52 meters by 17 meters a roll, in 340 colors, with a 2 year warranty. The PVC line gives you more than double the color count for a lower price point, the TPU line gives you a longer warranty and the self-healing topcoat that comes with PPF.

That tradeoff is exactly why most shops carry both rather than picking one. A customer protecting a new daily driver in a color they will keep for years is a Color PPF conversation. A customer chasing a seasonal look, a show car, or a fleet rebrand they will refresh again soon is a vinyl wrap job.

Neither line sits in US stock. Both are made to order, because the color count on each is too high to warehouse. That means the color and roll count get confirmed before anything ships, which is actually an advantage once you are quoting a job, there is no guessing whether a shade is in stock somewhere.

Decide by demand first. Look at what your customers are actually asking for this month, then stock to match. Get the color chart and a quote for both lines and compare side by side.

FAQ

Is Color PPF the same as vinyl wrap?
No. Color PPF is TPU with a self-healing topcoat, built for protection plus color. Vinyl wrap is PVC, a decorative film without the self-healing layer, and it is usually the cheaper option for a shorter-term look.

Which line has more color options, Color PPF or Vinyl Wrap?
Vinyl Wrap, with 340 colors against 172 for Color PPF. The PVC line's lower cost and wider color range is a big part of why most shops stock both instead of choosing one.

Can a shop stock both Color PPF and Vinyl Wrap?
Yes, and most do. They serve different customers: Color PPF for protection plus color on a car someone is keeping, Vinyl Wrap for a shorter-term or lower-cost look.
